현실의 생활을 이어주는 정성스런 공예(器)의 영역.
그 중간 어디쯤의 자리를 찾고 있습니다.
저에게 조형과 공예(器)의 차이는
이상과 현실의 차이이기도 하고
번뇌(煩惱)와 선(禪)의 차이이기도 합니다.
그것이 공예의 영역이든 조형의 영역이든
흙작업은 저에게 ‘신비로운 고요’로 향하는 시간입니다.

디어마노 dear Mano 는 도예가 고영인의 감성과 사색을 담는 개인 창작브랜드입니다.
MANO는 '손'이라는 뜻과
1.(물건이) 우연처럼 열심히 만들어진
2.(adv. 부사) 사람에 의해, 인공적으로
란 뜻의 스페인어입니다.
이런 뜻처럼
손이 가는대로 우연처럼 만들어진 것들을 좋아하고
그렇게 만들어 갑니다.
Deer(사슴)과 Dear(친애하는)의 중의적 의미인 De@r를 붙여
MANO가 만든 창작물이라는 뜻의 DEARMANO가 됩니다.

DEARMANO is the ceramics brand of ceramic artist Ko Young In. MANO means “hand” in Spanish and also carries the meaning of “well-crafted but as if by chance.” As the etymology suggests, the artist (represented as MANO) is enamored by objects made by hand and by chance, and forges his crafts in the same way. The word DEAR (DE@R) conveys the dual meaning of deer and dear, and DEARMANO alludes to products made by MANO.
DEARMANO’s Bird-Stone-Wind series, which will be presented at this year’s Maison & Objet, consists of dessert serveware organically and fluidly designed under the unifying theme of stone. By reproducing forms seemingly eroded by long periods of wind as well as the natural textures of stone, the series combines the Korean ceramic tradition with contemporary aesthetics, while also incorporating the artist’s distinctive variations. The unique designs and the harmonious hues constitute a formal beauty that makes the act of indulging in dessert an even more charming and comfortable experience.
